Honoring Alana Kelli Kemppainen Cartwright

October 17, 1990 - September 10, 2014

On Wednesday, September 10, 2014 Alana was struck and killed by a drunk driver. She was on her way home from the local tavern and rather than drive home, she and her friend chose to walk the short distance to her mom's house. They were hit by a drunk driver and Alana died instantaneously. Her friend remains in critial condition.

________________________________________________

Alana was vivacious, kind-hearted, and charismatic.   Her passion for life was contagious. She loved her time with her family and boyfriend, was a loyal friend who loved futbol, dancing (anywhere/anytime) and classic rock… these small descriptors are only some of the facets of the jewel that was Alana.

As a child, Alana's favorite films were Beauty and the Beast, and the Lion King. She would run home from school everyday and force her family to watch these movies repeatedly, and would reenact and sing every line from memory (playing all parts of course). She loved the cartoon Sailor Moon and you can see Sailor Moon's poses in many Alana photos... this is probably where she began her love of posing for the camera. She never met a camera she didn't love, and the camera loved her back!

In addition to her  love of sports, soccer and rugby, she loved dance and theatre performance.  Alana was an avid Harry Potter reader.    She enjoyed spending time with her many friends.

She had just finished her Associate's Degree at Whatcom Community College and was preparing to go to dental hygiene school at Lake Washington Tech. Her favorite activity with her family was Mexican train (dominos);  she loved the Sims and LAN parties with her boyfriend, Sebastian.  Her musical tastes ranged from EDM to Elvis and anything in between. Alana loved making a good margarita, or anything with tequila. She enjoyed Ridgetop Red and eating pickles at 2am. She loved dressing up in sequins, feathers, and anything animal print.

Words cannot describe how loved she is and how much she will be missed by all who knew her, especially by her mother and best friend, Sharon; father, Dan; 2 sisters, Kaaren & Diana; her boyfriend, Sebastian & numerous amazing aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
